When The Time Has Come…
We never get younger no matter how we try to cheat it. There is no return to our previous minutes. Like it or not, we have to move on. Life need changes and it comes when you are least expecting it.
Oh yes, today I was caught with my emotion. I was thinking of leaving the company I’m currently employed to. Not that I hate the environment, but I am monitoring my productivity. Staying too long in one place is not good for my career. I need to find advancements and that can only be achieved by jumping to other companies.
Does it so? Well, not all jobs need such shifts but in my case, when construction comes to the account, are highly necessary. Hey, I'm 31 and life is too far ahead of me.
Think of it this way. You move to a new neighborhood. Prior to your shift, old friends of yours come and pay you a visit. You, skeptical of your surrounding, refuse to know your neighbors except those next to your fence. To make things worst, you even refuse to visit local recreation center. Hey, you just moved to a new house but refuse to shape your surrounding? Will your new neighbors know you if you remain skeptical?
No doubt, I'm happy with what I've been paid for but I need progresses. I need advancement. I need to know new peoples, to have new contacts, to mix with new officemates, and to explore new environment. My current officemates will still remain in my phone memory so what's wrong of pursuing new contacts--and new salary?
Prior to my target, I only have 4 more years to spend as an employee. In 2012, I have to own a business, and business needs lots of friends. I'm not against those who prefer to work 9-5 but I wish to manage my own time the way I want it to be.
Well, I'm not completely honest on this. Deep inside me, I know I won’t go far if I stay with my current company. This is a large organization--and one will never achieve much as far as my visibility is clear. Forget the ambition for a better desk. What really matters are hierarchy and politics. And since I'm not good at both, it’s better move on. Who knows, I might find something more valuable with other companies?
It's important to paste it somewhere inside our brain. This is our life. Only we can need to shape it. It won't come perfectly trimmed the way we want it to be.
